Joseph was born in New Bedford, MA. He served in the US Navy for 21 years as a Chief Quarter Master E.9 and taught at the Naval Prep School. He belonged to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Mountain View, Arkansas, a member of Lions Club International, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and AMVETS.
Alvina and Joseph were married at Saint Bridget’s Catholic Church in South Boston, Massachusetts on November 13, 1949. They had 6 children.
The sea that calls all things unto her calls me, and I must embark. Ready am I to go,
and my eagerness with sails full set awaits the wind. And then I shall stand
among you, seafarer among seafarers. Let not the waves of the sea separate us
now, and the years you have spent in our midst become a memory.
