This was my version of the Winslow Homer painting, "6 Bells." That's Roy Giroir keeping time and I am on the sextant.
This is what 12:00 Noon looks like in the middle of Typhoon Betsy, 1966. We were doing 3 knots astern with 15 knots forward speed rung up.
