It is with great heartfelt pride and gratitude that I accept this plaque "Daughter of the USS SAVAGE," from the Reunion Association of the USS SAVAGE. I especially want to thank Ray Crumley, President of the Association, for making a presentation at the 2006 Reunion in San Diego, CA. Ray, I am eternally grateful to you for your recognition and kindness. I respect you deeply for serving your country, and for serving the Association so well. You are a great friend.
I would also like to extend my thanks to the other members of the Association for the year 2005, Ray Ewing, Bill Harvey, and Rich Cornall. I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Ray or Bill, however, I also consider them great friends. Rich, you have been "special" from the start - you are my big brother and favorite sailor! I treasure each and every one of you. What fine men you all are.
My father would have been so proud of me being voted "Daughter of the USS SAVAGE." His little ship, his little daughter. I am so sorry that he could not see this. Without him this site would never have come to fruition. He may even have had a "Bravo Zulu" for me. Daddy, I accept this plaque in your honor. I miss you, and I hope you're smiling down on me.
I also accept this plaque for all the fine men who have served aboard her in her glorious thirty-nine year history. You are all my "heroes!"
